PART 2: This portion of the KBCCIP series presents the violations of environmental justice occurring in Kings Beach, CA (Lake Tahoe). A $50 million highway project alternative will divert traffic into a neighborhood with low income, working class, and minority residents. The violations are so blatant that if the County's preferred project is approved it could turn into an easy victory in federal court for a NEPA aware lawyer who wants a high profile case. The California League of United Latino Citizens has opposed any transportation plan in Kings Beach that discriminates against Latinos. Part seven of this series will explore other NEPA violations.
