X Factor Shakeup as Simon Cowell Fires Host, Judges

Simon Cowell has gone on an X Factor firing frenzy. Steve Jones, Nicole Scherzinger, and, most shockingly, Paula Abdul have all been x-ed out of the judges lineup.

Of the five original U.S. judges, that leaves only L.A. Reid and of course Cowell himself.

The X Factor, a global vocal talent show created by Cowell, debuted in the U.K. in 2004 and arrived in the U.S. last year. The news of the pink slip bloodbath comes as something of a surprise as U.S. ratings for the X Factor had been quite healthy at about 12.5 million viewers per episode. However Cowell had ambitiously hoped to outperform American Idol's 20 million viewers, which may have led to the judge liquidation.
Rumors are already swirling about potential replacements, including Mariah Carey, whom Cowell reportedly wanted to hire originally but Carey?s pregnancy made it difficult.

All of this news keeps one thing intact: Cowell?s reputation as a huge jerk.

Maybe, hopefully, people are just finally tiring of all this. The ratings on stupid Idol are way down from years ago, too. Did he ever think of that, or is he so arrogant that he doesn't believe the Law of Diminishing Returns shouldn't apply to his projects?

For all you people angry at Simon, Simon did not fire Paula. The producers did and its business. Not his fault, he even fighted to KEEP Paula.

I agree...Simon made the right decision...little shock about Paula...but I totally understand! The host was a BUST he was terrible. Now let's get some real judges on the show and a decent host!

Paula and Nicole sabotaged the career of the artist that had the best chance of revenue generation in a contract. There was only one artist that had the uniqueness and angelic tones that would create an immediately identifiable recording voice and a teen fan base growing at an astronomical rate. Some say these fans would even stoop to death threats to defend their idol and life-inspiration. Others claim her spirit saved them from suicide. I say let Drew be a replacement judge next season.

I don't think Simon is a jerk because of this. I would love to be hired as a judge, work one year, get payed millions just to give my opinion, and then be fired. Better than not getting the job in the first place.
