Michael Jackson's family is giving his fans 17,500 tickets free tickets for the singer's memorial at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Tuesday. 8,750 names will be randomly selected to receive two tickets each. (July 3)
FrancescaGianna: it's not a fucking funeral. it's a memorial. the city has no money and people want to go see his body. if they want to go then they pay. if people like you and me don't want to go, then FUCKING DON'T GO. WATCH IT ON TV.
I propose everyone who wants to attend, donate $10 per ticket to help pay for the "incremental costs", as the councilwoman stated, of staging this service. ten bucks is reasonable...17,500 x $10 = $175,000
Still, though, they're not even letting anybody else on the streets in the area. I'm sure there's going to be tons of people who would (and will) fly in from all over the world for this. They should plan for it being as big as Obama's Inauguration and have it in a section of the city where they could plan for such a thing...although there may not be a whole lot of time to put something like that together. *shrugs*
staple center can hold about 20,000 max and dodger stadium can hold about 60,000, neither one of those would have been big enough to fit everybody who wanted to go. even the new L.A. stadium being built will only hold about 75,000.
The largest stadium in the entire world can only hold 150,000 people but it's in North Korea and I definitely don't think we'd wanna go over there right about now.

Staples is gonna make a hell of a lot of money with all those hungry and thirsty people walking around. They gonna get paid either way.

Only 17,500 tickets? They're doing it wrong. This thing could have had more people than the Obama Inauguration.

This whole memorial service thing for Michael Jackson pisses me off beyond words.
People are losing their homes and jobs every single day in Southern California, and this is what the city wants to do with the cash it DOESN'T have?
Hooray for all the Michael Jackson fans! You get to have your memorial service at the partial expense of the taxpayers! Hope you're proud.
I'm not!
