@deanthetickler I'm too lazy to even fake this. There's an article in Sonic Retro about it, you just need to use a custom savestate.

Lol beyond fake. Sega Genesis couldn't handle the way that surfboard was spinning like that. That was taken straight out of a GBA game!

This was most likely used for when you start the game as sonic only. And before they updated the sprites to sonic 3's.

I'm guessing that Sega wanted to update Sonic's sprite in Sonic 3, so they scrapped this intro and made a new one.

@Shadownnico uhhh, no. That sprite doesn't appear anywhere in the sonic 2 ROMs.
