@pstajk Just turn the lawn, put a few layers of cardbord on top(that you will wet with a ose) and then dirt, compost, on top and make yourself a little raised bed. You shouldn't have too much grass coming through and in a year it will be composted =) Hope you have fun!

oh yes ... and the lawn behind my house is covered with grass ... to prepare a bed, do i need to weed all of the grass out of the soil or can i just turn it over into the ground when i am first readying the bed ...
also, can i even grow plants (with compost) in very immature and unhealthy soil or do i first need to compost turned over soil (lawn), wait a while, and then grow?
what do you suggest?

Hey looks great, i'm about to start growing myself soon... quick question - have you ever heard of biochar or experimented with it while growing your crops?
well done, no fruit trees?

hi odin...
um... there are fruit trees on the property where i'm gardening... tons of apples and pears...and john jeavons book, "how to grow more vegetables" does provide a good reference for growing fruit trees... I'm just trying to grock all the elements of the biointensive method before putting out anything super permanent.... thanks for commenting.
