This is my first flight ever on an RC (radio controlled) plane and I'm flying a HobbyZone Super Cub. This is also my first YouTube video. I have never flown any kind of plane before but I did log 20 hours of flight time on the FS One flight simulator to learn take-offs, landings, and other maneuvers. I would highly recommend anyone looking to get into RC to buy as their first purchase, a simulator. It will save you hours in the learning curve and hundreds of dollars. On my first flight I was able to take-off from the ground and land confidently in 4-7 mph of gusty wind. Special thanks to FS One's in-sim flight training lessons. Enjoy!

This Super Cub has been modified with:

- Spektrum AR6200 Radio for 2.4ghz DX7
- New 3-wire servos
- GWS ESC/BEC for LiPo power system
- 3S 11.1V 2100mah LiPo batteries
- specially modified fuselage to fit the new power system

Video taken at Baylands Park, located on the San Francisco Bay in Menlo Park, CA. If you want to fly with me, just shoot me a message here or on http://www.rcuniverse.com.

Special thanks to my camera crew, AKA my girlfriend and my beagle. Extras and voice cheers were provided by other RC flyers at the park behind the camera. No crash.

  • o ya .. first flight... sure... what begginner buys a dx series transmitter for his first airplane... sry man but ur not fooling anybody

  • Not everyone makes minimum wage selling shoes at Payless...

  • he sed it's his first time flying this plane. Not his first time ever flying a plane!

  • Hehe, no, it is my first RC airplane flight ever. Since then, I've moved on though. I am now flying real airplanes! I earned my Private Pilot's License a couple months ago, and I'll finish my instrument rating by 07/2008 (next month). The passion for flight should never cease, good luck to all of you.

  • You know what, good job! I am training for my Private Pilot's license right now, is the written test hard at all? I love planes too, I bought the Super Cub yesterday!

  • The written is only hard if you don't study for it. Study a lot, and only be satisfied when your practice test scores are above 90%. Then take the real one and have a nice number on your permanent flight record. Good luck!

  • @Khatsalano hahaha

  • give the guy a break and give him benefit of the doubt! I taught my brother how to fly this plane yesterday and he did loops and everything too, and as for the transmitter, what's so bad about buying a Spectrum when those are about the best transmitters you can get!? You guys are just jealous.

  • yeah dumbass ive never flown either but if you have a good transmitter then it would be easier to fly.....I'm13 and I'm opening my super cub in a month for christmas with my dx5e

  • i got one of those inverted but you need alot of altitude to get out of inverted because there are no ailerons

  • Here's mine with a flat wing and other mods: watch?v=i_g0c9kWXYQ

  • Im sorry, is there something wrong in buying a dx and flying ur first plane with it? I flew my first plane on on my dx6i. BTW good job on ur first flight man.

  • @AddictingRC and maybe its the first flight for the super cub who ever said there wasnt any experience before hand

  • @AddictingRC agreed

  • I also like all the first flight is bs comments. You did see 20 hours logged in a flight sim. That is a lot of flight time without losing anything. I could easily see this guy able to do this on his first flight. Good job man on your flight! That sim experience really helped you out a lot!
