Just because two guys fight doesnt mean we need to start thinking of who was more of an idol... who came up with that idea?

Just an FYI: Terry's was not the "last" ... Ray's was.

@KarmicOmen ... and a Cup ring. How many Cup rings does O'Reilly have? Retiring O'Reilly's number is like buying a shirt to fill up the last hanger in the closet. May as well. The space is there for one.

@5inthehole Yes, Nilan was a very good player. Clearly you don't know much about hockey. Hockey is a man's game. It requires toughness. Nilan was a tough guy who laid down the law and got himself a Stanley Cup ring in 1986 for it. O'Reilly was a greasy freak. You Bostonians love your greasy freaks, just like now you've got Chara. Your appetite for grease never ceases.
@JRCrowley
How many kids of the 1980's and 1990's idolized Nilan vs. idolized O'Reilly in the 1970's and 1980's? Nilan wasn't exactly legend caliber. Nilan lacked character of any kind, but he sure exemplified every character flaw under the sun.
Taz embodied courage, perseverance, honor, hard work, pride and leadership; he was hockey personified! Not only can comparisons not be drawn between Nilan and Taz, because Nilan can't hold a candle -- Nilan can't be compared to most real men, period!

A cup ring ...
Chris Nilan could have a million rings, but not one of them will ever afford him 1/1,000,000 of the integrity, pride and courage that Terry O'Reilly encompassed naturally as a player and a coach; as a leader ... or the respect Terry O'Reilly earned on his own merit ... neither of which Nilan had then or has today!
