FRENCH singer Sylvie Boisel will enjoy hearing the music of other cultures when she appears at the Sydney Multicultural Festival next weekend.
Boisel, who has lived in Manly for the past three years, will be singing songs from her homeland and some jazz numbers.
``I think French ex-pats, and people from a range of cultures, will go along, she said. ``Whether they are residents here or citizens, people like to experience their own culture.
The Sydney Multicultural Festival begins on Friday, and finishes on Sunday.
Boisel will be performing at the opening-night gala and the following day, at about 6.30pm.
More than 15 cultures will be represented and the festival will feature food stalls, carnival rides for the kids, free stage performances and more.
There will also be a fireworks display on Saturday night.
Boisel, who sang when the Wallabies left for France for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, has performed for Radio Northern Beaches, and sung at the screening of the biographical film about French singer Edith Piaf.
She has penned a version of I Still Call Australia Home in French.
``Its great to have this kind of festival on the northern beaches and not necessarily in the city, she said.
``We love our northern beaches, no?
The festival is being held at Passmore Oval, Campbell Pde, Manly Vale, and is being staged by the Manly Calabrian Club.
