  • Hey Andy

Really loves these videos of yours! very much looking forward to seeing the complete bike!

Question about your choice of motor; may i ask how much it cost you? what other motors did you look at? i was looking at a video here on youtube where they put 3x RC airplane motors (7kW each and at 150USD a piece) on a gokart, ever considered such a solution? :)

    Keep up the good work!

    cheers from Sweden

  • I looked at many different motors. The best power to weight is either the Lemco or AGNI motor. You can put two of them in the bike for close to 100hp! The electric Varadero was never going to be a 'cheaper than gas' solution! The motor cost approx £850.00 from Lemco. There will be plenty of power in just the one motor to make the bike perform just like a motorcycle. You could use many motors however I wanted a clean direct power solution.

  • I emailed LEMCO with a few questions a while ago regarding motors and controllers for my forthcoming Mito conversion and Trevor Lees replied quickly with some very informative answers. Top Bloke.

  • Yup, I bought one of his LMC200 Motors for the Varadero. So when we gonna see some video / info about your Mito Conversion. You know there are now three Mito's being converted?? You gotta check out the evmotorcycle . org site mate!! >:)

  • dude, advance your perm! advance your perm!

That was VERY informative... this should be posted EVERYWHERE!

  • Trevor knows his Motors I can tell ya!

  • Cedric Lynch (who is the inventer) made us one for our solar car back in 1999 - its still running great using a 4QD controller

  • they should start making axal flux motors instead. they are much simpler to make and can be made very light and powerful with very high efficiency.

this guy made one with wood and it works great. youtube. com/watch?v=dUGi50F_bwc

imagine how it would be if done with fiber glass or carbon.

he put such a wood motor in an electric motorcycle and it works great : )

I don't think this lynch design has a future

  • very interesting video. he says it's exceedingly efficient, that's not entirely true though is it.. isn't it something like 80% at best? and horrible at dosile high rpm. good efficiency would be 95% at a wide range.

the lemco is basically the same motor as the Etek, just many times more expensive. a succesor to the etek is now manufatured under the name Mars but you can probably find them as Etek still. or buy a used etek on ebay.

the mars motor also exists in a brushless version

  • @rainstormaeroponics yes it's exceedingly overpriced : )

  • He did not give thanks to the true inventor 'cedric lynch' but I just did. I hope the petroluem companies are shaking in there boots.

  • how much does a lynch motor cost

  • they said they use alltrax brand controllers (though personally i think Kelly brand controllers are better)

  • what was the best motor controller called?
