This clip is the raw/unedited video of a two-alarm commercial structure fire that I shot in the Mira Mar area of San Diego on August 19th, 2010. The company involved was Hi-Q Environmental Products Company at 7386 Trade Street, San Diego, CA 92121. There were flames through the roof upon SDFD's arrival. The fire damaged at least two businesses. I was unofficially told (well after the incident) that the source of the fire had to do with a Ford F150 that was parked inside the building. Just FYI, on incidents like this I usually continue to roll video even through my scene changes and adjustments on a-lot of shots. Also note that this video was originally shot in 16x9 on my Panasonic AJ-SPX800P.
Yet another classic case of an ineffective fire attack using inadequate water flow. large Heavy fire right? Collapse. Nothing to save. And yet we see wasted time and effort with a small handline meant for a couple of rooms at best. This is CLEARLY a master stream fire in defensive mode. Directing the stream at the roof??? An aerial pipe flowing from high above on a one story building? Aerial pipe directed from below sweeping upward works much better.

seems they are attacking a fire that should be considered defensive.

NICE FOOTAGE! I don't know if you're from San Diego but the area is Miramar (all one word) and FYI to anyone wondering, the Miramar Fire Dept Engine is from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
