I'm 22 and refuse to buy. My parents and just about everyone tell me that getting a house is the road to riches. Take a look all around the world at how housing ended up. I know they say there are a shortage, but out of the 5 people I know with investment properties - 4 of them can't find tenants! If they can't get tenant, they can't get pay the mortgage, if they can't pay the mortagge, they have to sell, if they all have to sell, prices fall.
Think for yourself I say

WRONG. These "experts" might as well be shot dead. They are making the situation worse for all aussies and are setting up a future of starvation, crime and hopelessness. Abolish the central bank, allow interest rates to become decentralized and rise as much as the market dictates, and deregulate the housing market. Prices will drop but living standards won't. Stop worrying about numbers and figures that are manipulated and have lost all meaning.

@scatteredmunky Gail Kelly is an immigrant. Somehow she went from being a HR manager in some bank in South Africa that no one had ever heard of to being the strategic marketing executive at CBA and CEO of St George in under 4 years. You tell me when will Aussies wake up and realise they are having their resources sold for a pittance and their jobs given to foreignors. Keep up with the so called "skills shortage".

@Celtic450 stop immigration?? id rather do away with these central bank criminals who flood the market with cheap money..also the govt who artificially prop up property prices with fhog.

When political parties depend on the real estate market- developers etc for so much of their party funding- is there any surprise housing prices keep rising?
The parties need this increadible growth for the trickle down effect (intio their accounts) to occur!

Ex deputy treasurer it's not just about interest rates you turkey! It's also about the unaffordable prices of houses to begin with!

The Austrian school of economics explains what's happening here, it's all part of the business cycle.

What about that fool from the HIA: 'well there's an inevitability house prices are going to increase' (aka property always goes up...nothing can stop its relentless onwards march...resistance is futile etc etc).
Sooner or later someone will sue one of these 'property experts' for such blatant lies. It's bordering on criminal negligence. Better for us all if he stuck to selling snake oil
The only people more foolish than this clown are the people that believe him.
