Photoshop Mama's Sketch Tutorial

love your tutorials! I seem to have a problem when I want to blow out what I don't want in the background, it makes it black even though I have the foreground color as white. I have rebooted, started over many times and still I get the same results. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You must be missing a step. Make sure you are highlighted on the blur layer and that you Inverted it and that layer is set to Color Dodge. Make sure your brush option is in NORMAL mode in the top options bar and the foreground swatch in the toolbox is white. Paint directily on the blur layer. and it will blow out gray areas to white, painting with black will bring back more detail. It could be that you are working on the wrong layer, possible the levels adjustment layer?

so i have a bootlegg copy because i have a hand not a circle.. correct, and to fix it in need to turn my comp. off then back on and it should be ok .. is this correct.. thanks

ok i make it as far as getting to the brushes , i only have a hand not a circle , and it doesnt do anything as far as darking or lighting an area... some one HELP .. please

More often than not this is a case where the keyboard just gets stuck. Tap hard or hit the Spacebar a few times to release the hand.
