Star Trek Phase 2 - Special Featurette for FedCon XX 2011

With 6 full episodes, one vignette and this special feature released, Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II is an award-winning independent webseries that produces new episodes of Classic Star Trek. Continuing the fourth and fifth seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series, we film the untold stories of the U.S.S. Enterprise, Captain Kirk, and his crew with the intention of filling in the missing years of the original five year mission, and bridging the gap to Star Trek: The Motion Picture. We are a group of fans who have come together with a common love for the classic era Star Trek for the purpose of having fun while making new episodes. It is the goal of Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II to support and promote the CBS/Paramount Star Trek franchise by giving fans an active way to continue their interest in Classic Star Trek.

  • Very funny indeed! I don't know why they had to screw with the continuity with the newest trek movie anyway.

Is there any software out there that lets you do this sort of thing with a regular PC? I'd like to do a Trek story or two. Either that, or help to work on a production like Phase II in some form or another.

  • @Shipwright1918 Define "regular PC" ;-)

Yes, you can buy a computer that is powerful enough (a "regular" PC - something akin to a high end gaming system), and there is software that can be used for such. I *THINK* a couple of Tobias's favorites are Lightwave and Maya, if I recall correctly (though, he does use quite a bit of other packages as well).

  • So, have any of you noticed yet that our amazing VFX Guru Tobias actually built rooms/sets inside of the portals on the ships? ;-)

  • Whoever made this is incredible.

  • @ThirdRAILKink On behalf of all of us, our thanks!

  • As much as it was shameless purist-fawning, the "Acme Time Repair" and the awesome toony-ness of it killed me with laughter. Reminds me of 'Star Truck', when the giant hammer came out and smashed the Kingon ship.

  • @Squisidee LoL! And we had fun with it. Which made it all worthwhile, like all of our episodes - we love doing 'em.

  • How many times can I push "Like"? Just one? That's a pity...

    Great job! ;)

  • I still say you guys should have gotten the budget and script for the new Star Trek movie. You've already got the props, sets, and costumes...

  • *golf clap*

    Well played, good sir!

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • It's REALLY awesome to see Tobias Richter's work here. Looks like the future CGI of P2 will be some awesome sights to take in.

  • Still very cool.

  • Phase 2, next episode - Q is jolted out of "bed" by a shock to the Timeline and is shocked to find that some "petty little Romulan" has botched up all of his fun with Picard and Janeway. Q is not impressed, and immediately sets out to put things right. Someone call John DeLancie NOW!

  • Made my day! - As Plinkett movie review said "It needed to be what it is to be successful." All the characters did as expected including using their catch phrases but was it really Star Trek? Or was it a blockbuster action movie that had all the elements of Star Trek. I believe it was the latter.
