  • Tennant's sounds more...tentative, almost? And he uses his body more in his act.

Simm is just INTIMIDATING, and big, but that's to be expected as he just does angry SO WELL XD.

I love both of these for their individual styles, but I'd say I favor John Simm's version.

Now, if only they did more work TOGETHER, it would be perfect.

  • Wonderful to see them back to back. That's what makes Shakespeare so timeless. John's Hamlet is presented as the spring still being wound. David's as it is unwinding. Both are wonderful and powerful because of their truthfulness.

  • I'm sorry... I know this is a serious tragedy and all but Tennant's face and hair at 9:21 had me burst out laughing. xD

  • the weirdest trash talking i have ever heard. i lol'd quite a lot at john simm tho when he said 'with words' it sounded like he was throwing up 3:39.

i only watched this coz i love john simm, very sexy but weird coz i just watched him almost destroy the universe in doctor who.

  • John Simm, I think I'm in love with you. -3

  • I love em both, and am a huge David Tennant fan, but Simm hands down wins this one for me, absolutely proving that less is more, wish there was a recording of him

  • They're both so good! Simm's is more angry and Tennant's is more, well, crazy, unstable. I prefer Tennant's except for the last line: Of the king! (it's the voice+running+music that makes DT's slightly over the top. Simm's is just spot on ) But it's possible that Tennant's works better on a stage. They are both brilliant, I would love to see the do something together again!

  • It's unfortunate that I'll never get to see him (John) do the whole of this play, considering the fact that when he was doing it, no one was allowed to make a DVD of the event. I really want to see it too. D: I would pay a lot of money to see this. I really would.

  • Okay, so after watching John's again I have to change my mind. John wins with me, for his sheer passion. His facial expressions here match so perfectly with what they should be.

  • @Battlefolk I agree 100% with you here.

  • @ForeverDreamable As much as I hate to, I have to agree with you on this one. I love John's, and I love him as an actor, but I liked David's just a bit more. I think he put just a bit more into the character, as in different emotions. John's was very well done, and I would absolutely love to go see it performed, but David is just...so emotional here. And I get exactly what you mean when you say that he makes you stay on track with the moving around. It was the same with me.

  • I say David because he makes me stay on track with his running around. He moves with the character himself. John is wonderful but this goes to David...sorry John.
