http://www.footballshirtculture.com At the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, two of the world's leading brands, adidas and Samsung, announced their strategic partnership and unveiled the first product initiative as a result of the collaboration, called miCoach.

miCoach is a real-time training system designed to motivate, inspire and enable athletes at all levels to reach their training goals, whatever they may be. It is the most advanced interactive training system by collecting and turning personal data into individual training plans based on one's fitness level and specific goals. This unique partnership combines the expertise of Samsung in mobile technology and communications with adidas' leadership in innovation for sport.

"miCoach is an exemplary manifestation of the adidas brand message of innovation and inspiration," said President and CEO of the adidas brand, Erich Stamminger. "adidas has been a leader in the sports industry for more than 80 years, and the miCoach initiative with Samsung continues this tradition in an effort to inspire and enable athletes at all levels."

Research and development for miCoach began over two years ago between the adidas Innovation Team and Samsung, with the objective of creating the most advanced and customizable training product in the marketplace. With input from the Athletes' Performance Institute (API), an elite training and sport research centre based at Arizona State University, miCoach is like having your own personal coach with you on every run; a coach who knows
exactly what you want to accomplish and exactly how to help you get there.

"To achieve any goal an athlete needs the best coaching and that's exactly what miCoach provides; a personal trainer to take him or her through their paces, to be with them every step of the way, guiding them to new fitness levels," said José Mourinho, a winner of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup with Porto along with two English Premier League titles with Chelsea.

The miCoach system contains five key components which combined provide personalised audible feedback; the miCoach Samsung phone, a heart rate monitor, a stride sensor chip to fit all adidas running footwear, compatible adidas apparel and the miCoach website to create tailored training programmes.

miCoach is available throughout Europe in adidas and Samsung stores as well as select retail partners starting in mid-March 2008.
