If we must get technical the war began in 1950 but when you referred to the events during the early 60's when "the twist" was popular, the issues in Vietnam were basically unknown here. I don't remember 1955 because I'm too young but I don't recall my parents talking about protesting the US taking over the advisory roll with the North Vietnamese Army from France in 1955. US combat mission began in March 1965 which is when the fighting and dying began that we all remember well. sigh

nope. This version debuted in July 1960. Vietnam was between 1955-1975. USA involvement escalated in 1961. Full combat units deployed by 1965. Unless you are saying people stopped twisting by 1961?..which of course they did not. sigh
