Puntarenas Percussion Party!!!

Portenos must celebrate Costa Rican Independence Day twice...I remember being there a previous year on September 15th (the "conventional" Independence Day), but it is also celebrated again in Puntarenas on September 30th. The parade takes place on the 15th on the main drag, this parade happened on the Paseo de los Turistas, the street next to the beach.

It was HOT, some of the parade marchers had passed out due to the heat. These guys were just getting warmed up, awaiting their turn to march down the Paseo. This gets really intense in the middle, TURN IT UP!!!
