  • I have to post without stirrups and I was wondering since you do it so well, what is your technique? my horse is so bouncy it feels like I am going to fall off. any tips?

  • @crazywatergirl923 basically, do it as much as your can. practice on a not so bouncy horse first to get your balance and strenghten your muscles. Work on squeezing you knee, which took me a while. then move on to your horse!

  • I like where your hands are, some riders hold them so high it is ridiculous. I have never heard of making a saddle seat equitation class post without stirrups.

  • @7flyinghecks thank you :] haha thats the max i can bring my hands up, cause she throws her head. for pleasure i basically ride with them in my crotch. and really? haha its basically in every pattern for us. trotting and cantering without stirrups.

  • Your legs were steady and great while in the stirrups. When you took them out you started to post using your lower inside calf muscles. Be sure to post from your knees... Regarding your hands.. you can keep them low but just widen them and put a slight bend in your elbow and don't flatten your hands as if your playing the piano. It will give the illusion of better hand position.. plus it will give you more control. Sit back in enjoy the ride!

  • @riden4roses yea haha that is what i have been working on. posting off my knees. haha i've been a hunt seat rider for so long, that is how i was use to riding without stirrups. but thanks! ;]

  • and halting: DEF something we have been working on for a good couple of months. she impatient, as am i, which is a bad combination

  • hahah thank you! i had a grey tie on and it was kind of a spur of the moment decision to make it more colorful :] and thank you! constructive critisim is good! haha. the more people i hear it from, the better, because i really want to do well at ss eq. and yes i cannot hold my hands higher, because then it puts too much bit pressure on her and she throws her hands. but for morgans its okay for classic rider to have their hands slightly below the 90 degree angle.

  • Hi first of all I LOVE your tie color! On your pattern I agree that you were forcing your post. After you trotted to the halfway point of the far wall you let your horses head fall lower when you stopped from the trot. You should have halted longer. My trainer always tells me to count to three. When you trotted back your feet where not strait. You should try to push your chest out more. Also I dont know if you need to hold your hands low for your horse but if not raise them a good amount.

  • Feel free to critique. at least me equitation. not my horse, because you do not know what she is like to ride. She was trying to stay balanced under me at the posting trot w/ no stirrups, and thats why it looks silly.

but heres my critique to myself: should have make sure i started on the right diagonal, post looks a little forced, and my 2nd diagonal change was very obvious.
