@mofohofo It certainly can be one of the reasons. Another reason could be that you have product build up that might be clogging the pores on your scalp. By steaming, you can loosen up that build up and also neutralize the bacteria that can cause the flakes and irritation. Also, consider using a sulfate-free shampoo. The harsh surfactants of a standard shampoo could be excessively drying your scalp out. Hope that helps.

@maxBDAhustler Absolutely. Works for giant fros and is great for locs. Men need to keep their hair hydrated, as well. And activators and sprays might add oil and shine, but it doesn't give your thristy fro what it needs. Water.

I agree with your regimen to steam the hair, but if you don't have a steamer, then isn't the plastic cap just as good? Although you can apply a thick, rich, protien or keratin based conditioner to the hair the effect would be the same, right?
