This morning on MSNBC, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) discussed the House GOP health care proposal and the consequences of the Democrats' government-run health care plan.
You named Germany, questions: isn't it mandatory for all persons to have health insurance if they make less than a certain amount? How much of each persons dollar earned is used to pay for it? How come none of the congressman have mentioned Germany as a good example?
Costs will be lower to whom? There is no such thing as free money. It comes from somewhere. Do you really think a private company can compete with a govt run one?
where in the CONSTITUTION? and know the context when they say "life".
1. Germany where individuals receive a base level of health insurance from the state while being able to fill in any gaps in that system with private insurance.
2. If the government provides health insurance, costs will be lower and most people living in poverty will be able to afford Health insurance
3. I'm not arguing for socialized medicine, just a government run insurance
4. In the Declaration of Independance, "...among these are LIFE..." Health care is the maintenance of life.
tell me which country's health care system you are comparing ours to when you say that it is the least effective? how will the program be better if the government runs it? which country's have socialized medicine and are okay? I've heard this argument before on "its duty to preserve the rights of all citizens". but a few questions. Where does the constitution establish health care as a right, and if it is such a right, how can you be preserving a persons right while infringing on the others?
1. Our system is one of the most expensive and least effective systems of health care in the modern world. My interest is in providing the best health care for everyone. If the program is better, health care will improve for all citizens while if not, it will quietly fade away.
2. On the Poll variables, I can concede the large numbers of variables in the poll and admit my statement was flawed.
3. The government gets the right through its duty to preserve the rights of all citizens.
So you think that if a private sector company with all of its limitations can not compete with a govt owned and run company than it should be eliminated? Did I say polls can't be trusted or did I say a poll based on so many different variables cant be trusted? and I did say it can't be trusted no matter what the outcome, so that's that! and you can tell Bill O'Reily What ever the hell you want. I dont need to read any newspaper. I can read the constitution. What gives the govt the power/right?
1.if the private sector can't compete with a government program (with all its "bureaucratic nonsense") then that is a sign that the private sector plan is absolutely terrible and should be marginalized
2. So polls cannot be trusted ever? I will be sure to hold Bill O'Reilly to that standard as well
3. The Government should be stepping in because the system is broken. Read any newspaper in the US and you will reach the same conclusion.
I'm not too sure the lady understands that there cant be true competition if you have a govt. controlled and govt. run business or plan. And as far as polls go. there are so many variables in these situations, that any poll that says either way cannot be fully trusted. And no one seems to be able to tell me why the govt. should even be stepping in. What gives them the power? Nothing and no one! I really hope this goes away in 2010.
