she dies, because she gives up her immortality in order to marry Aragorn, although you're right it's not really pedophilia as Aragorn isn't exactly a kid, even if he's young by elvish reckoning. (you have a point though ArmedWithAComputer, it's weird for Elrond)

Arwen doesn't become a pedophile because she falls for Aragorn. She's of a different race and they happen to be IMMORTAL (they don't die). Incestuous relationships of the type you're referring involve a blood relationship closer than a second cousin.

If you read the books - you see that Elrond has a much differant personality than what Peter Jackson shows.
And how would YOU feel if your adopted son fell in love with your daughter? AND the son was hundreds of years younger! Not only would that make Arwen a pedephile, but they would also be practicing incest to a certain degree.
In the books, Elrond basically said: "If you are going to marry - and consequently KILL - my only daughter, then you have to at least be king."
