@vulcan2343 Good Go, that's incredible! You might be in a legal position to get the body of Billy the Kid's mother exhumed for DNA testing to confirm or deny your relationship. Or any of the Kid's known, living relatives for that matter. Even distant ones would either share your DNA or not be related at all. If no, then Bill might have a stronger case.

There is news today of a long promised pardon to be given to Billy the Kid. He was promised this pardon in 1879 for testifying against a rival gang but has yet to receive it. Personally, I think the best thing is to dig up his grave and see if he is really there. A few years ago, it was suggested to find out if the DNA of the body in Billy's grave matched that of his mother, whose grave location is known. It would be very interesting to know if Billy the KId is really "Brushy Bill."
