DISCLAIMER: NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED!! I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE VIDEO/AUDIO MATERIAL USED HERE EXCEPT FOR MY OWN VOICE. ALL CLIPS USED HERE BELONG TO AND ARE COPYRIGHTED (C) TO THEIR RESPECTIVE OWNERS (DISNEY, DREAMWORKS, PIXAR, NICKELODEON, ADULT SWIM, CARTOON NETWORK, STUDIO GHIBLI, VIACOM, ETC.). THIS WAS MADE FOR FUN, NOT FOR PROFIT!
I DO, HOWEVER, OWN THE ESSAY WORDS. :)

My GOODNESS this took a while to assemble.

Well, assuming this doesn't get taken down because of the many, many clips I had to use, this is a rant I've been wanting to do for quite a while. I'm an animation major in college and am plenty obsessed with every kind of filmmaking, so this was a long time coming.
I wrote it out beforehand, which is less of a rant than an essay, I suppose, but I'd rather have all my thoughts organized and not sound awful trying to come up with the right word at the right time. :)

I'd love to hear what all of you think of this, so comment! :) Again, these are my own personal opinions, so try and keep it civil (although I don't know WHAT would get anyone upset in this rant, but who knows. This IS the internet, after all.)

  • "Kids are much smarter than we give them credit for." ~Doug Walker (aka Nostalgia Critic) in his Disneyember review of Pinocchio

  • @AliaSparrow Truth! Doug Walker is one of my heroes. :)

  • I have many animated films in the works and many have intense stories. I already have one written for my future film called RANGER RAD.

  • @Tyronor Best of luck to you!

  • Well said. I'm a strong believer in believing that the reason why most teens/adults think animation is just for kids is because it's, well, it's animation, it's not real. They much rather dumb themselves down with "reality" shows like jersey shore.

  • @ember1k Yup, which is pretty sad.

  • I have a new superhero film idea for animation. It will be written soon. It is called VX SUPER FORCE.

  • (Cont.) Animation IS drawings on paper, but so many animators (like Pixar and Miyazaki) concern themselves as not conveying art, but conveying story through art beyond the real. Yet, they bear a sort of realism (I remember how Studio Ghibli films portray human and animalistic movements so realistically that you feel subtle physical or mental struggles of characters) in the established world. Their characters are exisitable through the care of their script (yes, animated movies have those).

  • Animation, so many possibilities... The issue is that many believe we relate better to live-action because... we see actual humans working to be invested in their characters on screen. Some argue that animation is simply art, drawings, pretentious expression with only a storyline to show of the art which is one of the biggest lies I've heard about cinema.
