The new Castro Valley Library opened Saturday October 31, 2009. There was a "Great Book Pass" that occurred the morning of the grand opening. Approximately 350 books were passed along the streets from the Old Library location to the New Library location as a symbolic event. Over a thousand local Castro Valley residents partipated in the "Great Book Pass" of 2009 to help celebrate.
