Here is a song from Saratoga 1937. Watch the entire movie at http://www.film-classics.com/?p=3631. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029516/
Th song is sung on the train to Florida.
If this is a real song (not written for the movie) please tell me. If anyone can decipher the chorus, please let me know what the words are. Thanks!
Music by Walter Donaldson
Lyrics by Bob Wright and Chet Forrest
Sung By Cliff Edwards, Una Merkel, Clark Gable, Hattie McDaniel, an unknown (by me) man, and chorus.
Played by the Four Esquires.

Something that has been bugging me: The girl with the silver brooch(?) around her neck, who is standing near Fritzie (Una Merkel) and is visible often from 00:30 to 01:35, and who is last seen clapping her hands, is suddenly replaced at 01:37 with a different girl with a very different hat. I'm positive I've seen this silver brooch girl in a different movie, though I couldn't begin to tell you which one. Does anyone know the name of either the silver brooch girl, where she went in the scene (if she is still in it at all) or who replaced her? If so, please tell us.

  • I love Cliff Edwards. He always puts me in a good mood. The Horse with the Dreamy Eyes was writtten for Saratoga by Bob Wright and Chet Forrest.

  • @HOGEFAN Thanks so much!! I wasn't sure if it was a version of a popular song, like "the Daring young Man on the Flying Trapeze" from "It Happened One Night"

  • Cliff Edwards, aka Ukelele Ike! You'd hardly know by watching him here, unless you're really alert, that his was the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Walt Disney's 1940 "Pinocchio," with his beautiful "When You Wish Upon a Star." You can listen to that on YouTube also. Turner Classic Movie (TCM) played Saratoga a few nights ago, week of January 22.

  • Fabulous clip. Ukulele Ike is great. Thanks!

  • I love it! Jean Harlow and Clark Gable were so great together. lol and you've got to love Hattie McDaniel. lol Thank you for sharing
