  • I attended schooll with these Twin Tones. It was their song the wrote and recorded it first. As was popular back then they were ripped off by the record companies to give to a more popular group, The Playmates. I have a photo of them with Alan Freed the only jock that played their version on the radio. They woulld routinely perform in our school. Hicksville High School, Hicksville LI NY

  • The Twin-Tones was the name of my first band! I never heard this record...good version but a little stiff.

  • Never heard this version either...64 now and grew up with these songs...Always thought the Playmates had the original!!!Not bad, but I like the Playmates version better....

  • As I said on a previous note was The Twintones original version of Joanne was only issued on an EP at first. Then the Playmates covered it and RCA never put out a single, Then they had the Flip Skip which made some noise and yhen they followed with a song called joannes sister. They changed there name after Joanne from the Twin-Tones to the Twins.

  • Listening to the Playmates' Jo-Ann brought me here. I like this version much better.. Too bad it wasn't the one popularized on most radio.

  • The Twin-Tones were one hit wonders....and were on a large label...RCA. They were competing with the Everly Brothers (Cadence Records) and the Kalin Twins (Decca). One of my favorites.

  • I never heard this before. I thought the Playmates were the originals. I'm learning new stuff more than 50 after it's relevant. LOL

  • For 50 plus years I thought the Playmates had the original and only "Jo-Ann". I do not recall hearing this version down here in North Central Fla. or on the "clear channel" nighttime stations that we could pick up. So, the bottom line is two recordings, one famous, one obscure, both great. Thank you for sharing.

  • Great harmonies! Thank you!
