Plisetskaya: Dance of the Persian Slave (Khovanshchina)

Maya Plisetskaya in the famous Dance of the Persian Slave from Khovanshchina, Mussorgsky's masterpiece. Apologies for the poor quality of the video - it's from a very old VHS.

I love how strange her make-up is, and the mysterious moment when she releases the small bird. At the end, she has to fend off the evil, drunken Prince Khovansky.
