Virginia O'Brien sings the lighthearted but dark ditty "Say That We're Sweethearts Again" from 1944's "Meet The People," (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037062) starring a young (and gorgeous) Lucille Ball.

The song was later used in an episode of "Batman the Animated Series," as sung by Harley Quinn, the Joker's oft-abused moll. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp6wLXj4-5A ) I didn't know it wasn't written for the Batman episode until someone pointed it out.

Both Batman (of DC Comics) and this movie are owned by Warner Brothers. The film is available on DVD via Amazon.

  • hey guys, you feel so too? i dont know but i LOOVE the musik of the 40s to 50s. i dont know i feel so comfortable like im home, i really enjoyed that old musik in fallout 3. haaaaaaaaaa...^^

  • @justlookin61 Just listened to Aunt Dot's version (1946) again....who was something of a comedienne in her act....and realized that the "patter" at the end of Dot's version wasn't part of the original. Course, I hadn't known till now that she wasn't the original artist to do this song!

  • Interesting...my aunt, Dorothy Shay did a later version that Dr DeMento used to play a lot...very different feel.......

  • Other then the nose, does she look like Vivian Leigh, Scarlett from Gone With the Wind, to anyone else?

  • not as good as harley quinns version LOL but its funny to know this is an actual song.

  • Harley Quinn brought me here!

  • @Adulation187

haha, you think that was natural?!

  • @ghb61 You misunderstand me- of course she is beautiful! What I'm saying is that she is wearing a lot of makeup and looks very un-natural. I'm not making fun of the woman at all, just the narration, since the literal definition of the term "natural beauty" is someone who doesn't need makeup to be beautiful- someone like the scientist Jane Goodall would be a good example, or Joan Crawford without her makeup. I've got nothing against glamour- just don't call it "natural beauty"- that's all!
