Getting Ruby, my yorkie's ears to stand without taping

After trying numerous times to tape my yorkie's ears (unsuccessfully) I thought I'd try something a little easier!

So, I cut a couple small pieces of thick card from the cover of my phone book and used eyelash adhesive (don't worry, it's been tested on humans :) and got her ears to stand on their own!

I haven't seen many videos on getting their ears to stand so I thought I'd make one.

They were shaved about half way down on the back and also on the inside by the breeder when we got her so yep they would have been shaved. I also shave all our puppies ears to give them less weight so most stand without having to do this. the thing is to do it as young as you can.

Sorry, just noticed your post. 6 months may be pushing it to have the ears stand... It will probably take more than a few days. Try this way, at least it won't hurt your pup's ears! Good luck!

I put it on the ear until they fell off on their own. I think Ruby's were in for about 3 days. She didn't notice them so she didn't scratch at them like she did the tape! But honestly, they peel off so easily and painlessly that you could take them off after a day or two to check them and put it back on if they start to flop.

@Iloveyorkiesandtacos I agree that they look cute floppy but the breed standard is that they be standing up, which is why I have suggested a pain free method to getting them to stand.

did you have to shave her ears first to make it easier to train them?

I have a 6 month old yorkie! Personly why the heck would you do this! Who cares what direction her ears fall!! More to the point would you go around with two bits of card and tape stuck to your ears! This is cruelty!!

thats sick, that poor puppy. People are so disgusting. they could care less about a Dogs wellfare. just how they look, I did nothing to My Dogs ears, they are perfect just the way God made them.

How long should I do this? My dog is about 6 months old. Its a french bulldog with one floppy :-)
