An immature cedar waxwing was hopping around in front of a bar on a busy street, seeming unable to fly. Poking at fallen chokecherries when it should have been plucking them up in the branches. Anyone with a car may be familiar with this species, as they congregate in large flocks and pass half digested mountain ash berries onto automobile windshields.

  • No parents in sight. It was quite unafraid. I think it found me just as interesting.
