  • Wow! THANK YOU! i'd love to see more solo stuff of both Lockjaw and Griffin, as well as more duet recordings. These guys are amonst the greatest saxophonists; their whole approach to a song is what jazz is all about...I want to get a rare album they did together playing Monk tunes. The Fox also did an amzazing ballad album with Paul Gonsalves, another legend...

  • Yeah - Gonsalves is another of my 'all-time greats' - I've put quite a few clips up of him already as well

  • Will you be posting it? Ahhh, go on...

  • .... ohh!!! .... OK then!!

Gotta dig it out though - I've got some solo material on both these guys from the same time and I think there's some more duet stuff as well - Watch this space

  • FYI-the song is called "Funky Fluke"(i have the 45 my dad was obsessed with fluke stuff)..Great Stuff!

  • Killin'

  • These guys and all those jazzbos were creating the True Holy Music. Neva mind Rome, Jerusalem, or Jedda. This is the stuff nobody died for. Just smiling and shakin' the booty. Yowza

  • Heard these guys play "Willow Weep for Me" on Pandora but can't find a recording of it anywhere! Help!!!!

  • dont forget jimmy heath

  • As I read it Jaws was to become a drummer but switched to a horn so he could be up front in the band and get more women! Also he wanted to become a jazz musician because they always got up late in the day!

  • bobjazz11 can you post up stickball.

  • Pure gold. Thank you!!

  • Yeah I heard that Eddie Lockjaw Davis taught himself how to play. He was a genius.

  • Does anyone "growl" on tenor anymore like Jaws did? Well, maybe James Carter and a couple of others, but it's always great to hear some rough, tough house rockin' tenor.Anybody--whose doin' it these days??
