Sweetsingeruk - I lived on the Ferrier for 12 years. Left in the mid 80's before it started deteriorating. Do not fool yourself about the place and the environment. It is being torn down and long overdue
Sweetsingeruk yes I did I was one of the first people to move in on the "new" side of the estate in 1973. Yes you are right, it wasn't that bad when I grew up there in the 70's and 80's but it turned badly in the 90's - so you don't think the GLC made a mistake? You're joking right? Why do you think it's being torn down? Because it's a concrete jungle. It was supposed to be an ideal place but the council moved problem families there. When it was first built it was great but now looks like a dump
@turntellydown did you live on the Ferrier, ever... just asking...? It was never just a bunch of grey buildings to the people who lived there. It was home to a large, diverse community, with a lively, yet village-like atmosphere. Everyone said hello to everyone else, whether they knew them or not... and so on... Ugly yes, but not a mistake.
This video tells me that the GLC made a mistake - a BIG mistake. The Ferrier Estate was one of the biggest mistakes ever seen in London. The colour of the brick did not age well and with rain erosion and decay the Ferrier Estate looked awful. I use the past tense because it is being demolished. Good luck with this new experiment called Kidbrooke Village
