Hohner Hoodoo Box

For people Curious about the Hohner Hoodoo Box. I'm still new to alot of harmonica stuff so sorry if I didn't include information you would have liked.

I think you are right, but the people I play with play loud enough for me to pic them up on my mic, that and the feedback are probably my main problem. When I play with them though gain is almost to the max and volume is as high as possible. I usually have it mid way between scooped and ...bright? I don't have my amp with me...

What kind of harp and mic were you using? It looked like a Shure green bullet and a Hohner Golden Melody. How loud does that amp get? I'm trying to find a point-to-point wired amp for small gigs. Thanks! ~TJ

Yeah it was a bullet and Golden Melody. The amp gets loud, however, while I don't play in a band I have hung out with bands my friends are in and I couldn't really hear myself. That being said, they didn't balance the sound so they could here me and my friend plays really heavy guitar really loud. Turns up a pretty loud. It probably would work for small gigs. If I had more experience I could tell you. I can tell you the amp has grown on me. I might not have been using it to its max in the video

you need to raise that volume man, I think we only hear your harmonica, not the amp

Lemme tell u what i use. i use a 15 watt fende front man cheap tube amp. with volume on 1 and gain on 1 as well. green bullet up about 3 quarters. and i play with a 5 peice rock/blues band. and its loud i think the green bullet pushes the tube amps. any highr up on the amp u get feedback.

i wouldn't di (plug a xlr) into your amp you wanna mic it will sound 100 times better trust me!

sounds fantastic! No feedback either. My amp feeds back horribly even at low volumes. Don't forget about the XLR out so you can go straight into the board and the fact that it has REVERB (!) built in! Most tiny tube amps don't.

When on stage i usually play through an amp i bought from mergili innovations. Got a discount or i wouldn't of got one but it has enough punch to be heard. A really easy way to play on stage is a mic, reverb pedal,and distortion pedal right into a DI box. It gives you the ease to play clean, bluesy, or crunchy without the misery of fiddling with an amp in between songs. I like the half scooped half bright sound a lot too on the hoodoo box. I guess its feedback is just a curse.

What's your settings on your knobs? I got one for a practice amp but play on stage with a bigger rig. I was surprised at the horrible feedback tendencies it has but maybe i just haven't worked the levels right. If you're having trouble getting heard in jams with this amp it has a line out you could run to the PA or mic it. Both work just fine for the little watt rigs like this.
