Mixing stupid ignorant people with intelligent beings such as parrots is a disaster all on its own.

The traffic of wild animais in Brasil is as big - and tragic - as the traffic of drugs and guns. Most of parrots Europeans and Americans see are from this criminal traffic. Most parrots babies are taken too young from their parents and most die during travelling. Really. Help us to stop wild animals traffic! Ask pet stores not to sell them and don't demand them, please. Let them be free in their habitat.

Awesome informational video! People need to be aware that adoption is available for birds as well as dogs, cats, horses and others. Boo to breeding mills of all sorts, someday we will hopefully be able to have laws against them.

@NetBoy2112 I am confused by your response. What is it about this video that bothers you exactly? And what has Best Friends "stumbled" over lately? Clarify please if you are going to sling barbs.

Best Friends better be careful about who they let speak for them about certain issues. Lots of parrot breeders out there would love to see them stumble over themselves like they consistently seem to be doing lately. With a budget their size, you would think they would be able to recruit some actual experts in the avian welfare community? I have yet to hear any of the other respected sanctuaries in this field speak up and join with Best Friends. Birds are neither dogs nor cats Best Friends!

@amykathryn35 Both my parrots and all my friends' parrots regularly hang out on their owners shoulders and I have yet to witness a person being bitten. It's one of those 80's stupid rules, just like dominating your bird or clipping its wings.
@EmmetKelly09 Right on! All the parrots I know are flighted and none have suffered an injury or any other trouble because of it. If a parrot can't fly proper, how the heck is it supposed to stay unharmed when it falls off a perch, tree or a shoulder?
7-11 homes on average? please... only animal you MUST mutilate to keep? tell that to my 2 conures that are flighted and happy. if they want outside, I take them on a harness. most live 80-100 years with a HIGH chance of out living you? I doubt that, only larger birds do, and most only live to be about 50-60 on average. this women is a stupid, american IDIOT... instead of making it sound like it's impossible to own a bird, maybe teach people the right things to do with birds instead.

Watch the video and be happy that someone took the time out of their lives to educate people about birds and that we all found our way here. I think this lady did a wonderful job even though everything she said has been known and said for years by anyone that is slightly interested in birds. Maybe a person that has never been around birds or someone that has not owned a bird might learn a little. It is still a great video for anyone wanting to see how great these animals are!
