Poor Lighting. Poor video quality. Poor audio. Mic distorts out. Lead guitarist couldn't make it (Nestor was gettin' BUSY!). PERFECT!

Whenever you play a show at Otto's Shrunken Head (538 East 14th Street, between Avenue's A & B - where they NEVER charge a cover!) ANYTHING can and usually does happen. The home of NYC's best indie music scene, this small but impressive club boasts some of the best entertainment in the East Village and New York's Lower East Side! On May 31st, 2009 The Baghdaddios returned to their old stomping ground to do an impromptu set for punk and indie empresario, Mr. Frank Wood. Earlier that night were half a dozen bands including New Brunswick retro-punk rockers, FREEDOOM! They stuck around after their kick-ass set for NYC's indie vets and quickly joined in on the fun, moshing, drinking and sweating a pint or two out! No lead guitarist? NO problem! Anchored by The Baghdaddios air-tight rhythm section, featuring Greg Hart on bass and Neil Richter on the drums, frontman/lead-singer Kenn Rowell delivers buzzsaw rhythm guitar riffs, peppered wih feedback, distortion and other spirited ambient sounds from his Epiphone Casino hollow-body which made you believe they actually rehearsed as a three piece (they didn't. Hell, they don't even rehearse as a full band!). Former bassist, Phil McAughk, who had appeared hours earlier with his own band, NJ's super-licious trip-rockers, F.P.ToZ came out of the audience to lend chorus harmonies on Nirvana's epic indie classic "Been A Son" - and stuck around after that tune, managing to find time to leave the stage and share a few mosh moments with the buoyant and over-enthusiastic crowd!

Launching into their signature anthem, "Neil's In Rehab", from their classic debut CD ("Willie Horton Hears A Who"), you can see whyy the group insisted on putting this up to see, despite the piss-poor quality. One word, folks: ENERGY! OK, two words: ENERGY and FUN!

From Austin, TX, to Toronto, Canada, to Blackpool, England, right back home to good ol' New York City, their home City's self-proclaimed "dysfunctional boyz next door", once dubbed "the band that wouldn't die" by some loser college newspaper "journalist" - NY's very own, The Baghdaddios, continue to do it - not just to you, but ALL OVER YOU!

Special Thanks to Guy Ward from NYCLiveRock.com for providing the original video feed that went out over the internet, world-wide, as it happened, on that near-midnight pre-Memorial Day slam-fest!

(And, while we're at it, God Bless Steve Pang and the rest of his incredible team at Otto's for allowing us all the freedom to be as bad as we want to be!)

CAN I HEAR AN AMEN, Y'ALL!
