This is me riding my 2010 Trek Fuel Ex8 on the Rivanna Trail from Hydraulic Road to Greenbriar Park in Charlottesville Virginia.

A few seconds into this video I fell off the short narrow bridge. Basically, I got too close to the edge, panicked because I don't like heights, and then it was all over. No harm though other than some scratches on my arms and legs from the briars I fell into.

I'm going to try and eventually have videos of the whole trail system up. And yes I know that this trail system is primarily for hikers and runners and try my best to be courteous to them and get out of their way.

  • I'm looking to start biking in C-ville, have any hikers/runners given you a hard time on this trail? Looks like a good trail to ride

  • @Th3Guardian13 No, I've never had any hikers or runners give me a hard time on the Rivanna Trail or any of the trails around town for that matter. If you are just starting out mountain biking the Rivanna Trail is a good place to start because the trail isn't too technical for the most part. There are quite a few parks/trail systems around C'ville as well. Observatory Hill (O'hill) has the most technical trails in C'ville. Walnut Creek Park and Preddy Creek Park have quite a few trails.

  • @runnermatt Starting on the public paved section of Rivanna trail I ran into a HUGE no trespassing sign and fence after I left the pavement about 1 mile ago. What a shame!! :(

  • @Th3Guardian13 I'm assuming that you started down near Pantops Mountain? If not where did you start? The Rivanna Trail Foundation's website may have more info.

  • awsome

  • @enjoi647 Glad you like it!

  • @runnermatt I started on the paved section which runs under 250

  • @runnermatt Great, thanks for the info! I've been mountain biking for a while, but never on a regular basis - which is going to change now that I've graduated and have a decent mike. (GT Avalanche) I've been to walnut creek a few times and love it.
