So I watched Tokyo Drift, the Fast and Furious, on TV last night, and started remember comments and questions from people in the past who asked me "Is Tokyo like in the movie Tokyo Drift"?
Long story short: no it's not, Japan and Tokyo is not like the movie Tokyo Drift.
Long story long: I can understand that some young people might ask the question, if they have absolutely no idea of how the world works. That's one thing. But what short of shocked me, was when people asked "Is Japan like Tokyo Drift?", was that people would reply back "yes it is".

Now lets just make it perfectly clear: Tokyo and Japan is as much like Tokyo Drift, as Boxing is really like it is shown in the Rocky movies, or that the Transformers movies are a realistic depiction of American politics.

While of course Japanese culture every now and then makes a little glimpse in Tokyo Drift, most of it is like it is taking place in an alternate universe.

So is Japan like Tokyo Drift? Nope.

A movie is just a movie..so obviously the stuff portrayed in Tokyo Drift shouldnt be taken very seriously..of course its only entertainment..however the drift/touge racing culture and street racing culture is actually very much practiced in Japan, maybe not a ton in Tokyo specifically, but in other areas in Japan. Some stuff in Tokyo Drift is somewhat *somewhat* based on some aspects of street racing activities and motorsport activities in Japan.
