They and the Byrds were listening to a lotta John Coltrane, Charles Parker, Miles Davis and mixing ir with the crazy tsake on blues and folk and country and rock and off and on and on here we go....
ASTONISHING guitar work. Only Jerry has this quirkiness and whimsical charm in his playing. Insane fluidity in this time signature. So catchy, this album got me into the Dead and Jerry's playing. Thank God!
I must say I haven't heard this in about 30 years but I still remember 99 per cent of the licks. I listened to this album ( no joke ) at least 5 times a day the first year it came out and if remains THE number one album of theirs ( anthem #2 ) Thanks for the posting
Awesome album. My friends and I would play this over and over aougain. Nothing compares to "live" GD. Some of the best experiences of my life. Thaks guys. I can imagine Jer still rockin out like this is up in the clouds now.
