Manjiri Alegaonkar has naturally sweet voice which also possesses resonance or some more elusive quality which makes you prick your ears when she is singing.She also happens to be the daughter of a reputed classical vocalist, Shri.Mohanrao Karve.Because of this she has been exposed to pure classical music from her early childhood.At an age when most girls are playing with dolls or involved in mock-house-keeping Manjiri was playing with the strings of the tanpura and getting acquainted with the mysteries of rhythm.She began receiving music lessons side by side with her introduction to the alphabet.Her early exposure to classical music was of Gwalior-cum Waze Buwa tradition as Mohanrao Karve is disciple of late Waze Buwa

She received a very systematic training of Jaipur-Atroli gayaki from late Wamanraoji Deshpande a well known Musicologist and was also trained by Pt.Babanrao Haldankar of Agra Gayaki.Today receiving training of Jaipur gayaki. from Pt. M.S.Kanetkar

A fine blending of traditional approach towards the purity of these Gharanas as well as aesthetic appreciation and assimillation of the more romantic genres constitvte her gayaki.

Apart from attaining exemplary mastery in classical Music Manjiri is also an excellent exponent of light music, stage music & Gazal in which she was trained by the experts in the respective fields.

She is a Top grade artiste of Akashwani and Doordarshan. In addition to scholarships she has been selected in I.C.C.R. reference panel of artiste for Hindustani Classical Music.
