Kealakehe High School is located in Kailua-Kona and opened in 1997. Presently our school population is over 1600 students from 9th through 12th grade. Our vision is "Harmony and unity through dynamic education and community for everyone, everytime." and we try to uphold the 3 Waverider R's: Relationships, Respect and Responsibility. One of our school's self-produced comprehensive reform efforts is our Citizenship & Ethical Philosophies program. Designed to help students reach their full potential through the study of ethics and the real world application of civic values, this daily school-wide curriculum spans the four years of high school and focuses on five strands: Philosophies & Ethics, Universal & Civic Values, Mindfulness & Current Events, Service Learning, and Relationships. The curriculum is primarily delivered over closed circuit broadcast and is also shared each evening with the island community on public access channel 53 (6:30pm). Approximately 25 students are grouped with one teacher and stay together as a CEP ohana for all four years. Visit http://citizenshipandethicalphilosophies.com for more information.
