hooray for white supremacist capitalist patriarchy!
-
who the hell listens to Pat Buchannan and nods in agreement? Lou Dobbs and other grumpy old racists. There have got to be better guests available. Rachel, quit subsidizing Pat just bc you two are unlikely friends. When he is on your show, I will be changing the channel.

Thanks so much for posting this!
Watching this, I can't help comparing Rachel to Bill O'Reilly. If that were Billo, he would have just cut the mic of his opposition so he could yell over the top. I applaud Rachel for letting Pat speak, even when that hateful crap was pouring out of his mouth, because she's not afraid of her opposition. She doesn't silence dissent, she faces it and smacks it down with rational argument. Yay for debate!

I'm not disappointed at all. I think it was an opportunity to show that there is still a sense of entitlement among WASP's. I've been challenged on this topic as well recently as to why affirmative action still exists as it's no longer warranted. Well, unfortunately, we are still living among many of those same people who don't want you swimming in their pool as it would change the complexion of their organizations.

I think the reason she had Pat on for so long was not so much to debate him, but to have an a intervention.
-
She was not trying to twist his words, she was trying to mirror back to Pat what he was saying, to get him to understand how ridiculous he sounded.
He's a political DINOSAUR. She has had the chips stacked against her from a very young age. She's worked hard and earned the respect of both liberals and many countless conservatives who all seem to say what an impressive person she is and has "one of the sharpest minds" of any judge they have met. That's all I need to know, okay Pat.

In saying that, the majority being white is a little sucpicious.
And he cannot explain away her grades with "affirmative action".
-
I agree with him on this part II, to an extent.
Rachel seems to try and twist his words here.
He was making the point that people should get their jobs based on skill. Not based on skin colour.
And she tries to twist that into him being against all Latinas (even though he made a point about that other person, saying he wasn't).

Meggion - well said.
Rachel, you become part of the problem when you have Pat on your show. Why is he relevant to anything going on right now? What, is she obliged to have him on because he is on every other show on MSNBC?

As a huge fan of Rachel's I hate to say it, but I agree with this SO much.
I'm disappointed in her here. Not for her debate skills which have always seemed to be above average, but for using her show as a platform to engage with someone that clearly cannot be logically engaged with as well as giving him one more MSNBC show to spew his vitriol on.
