i worked with this type of engine model Sulzer 7RLA56, since the engine has no exhaust v/v, the fuel injector can be easily placed at the center of cyl' head, only the scav eff bout 80-90%. the different between RTA, RTFlex(camless) is the piston skirt whereas the loop scavenging piston skirt design much longer for scavenging/exhaust port purposes. its simply to say that.. loop scavenging sys' is more easy for maintenance/service.

@carmenlee87 it all depends - sometimes based on mfr quality, fuel quality, but usually you clean, measure and prep for it's next use, unless it's worn beyond limits.

ya tats true, now a days you dont see these type of engines.this is a 28year old ship in which i served.probably got scrapped.
