The BBC's story of early 1900's writer and aristocrat, Vita Sackville-West and her marriage to British diplomat Harold Nicolson. Both Vita and Harold were attracted to members of the same sex. Vita is most well known for her liaison with Virginia Woolf; but the only affair that threaten to destroy Vita and Harold's amicable union was Vita's relationship with childhood friend Violet Keppel.
This series of clips are from when Violet decides after years of waiting to make a move on Vita. The second clip has Vita asking Violet if her boyfriend wants her.
The scenes don't perfectly overlap, but will compromise the majority of the section of the film that ends with Vita and Violet's first kiss.
A wonderful tribute to Vita Sackville-West & Violet Keppel/Trefusis. (great actresses too!)
Thanks for posting this video!
The book is also a wonderful documentation of their love. The relationship among these two belongs to the biggest "Love Stories" in (European) culture history.
Did you read the book "Violet to Vita"? A collection of Violet's letters to Vita between 1910-1921.

Violet did have at least one other female partner - Winaretta Singer, daughter of the sewing machine man.

In my opinion, Violet seems very stupid in this version... Vita had a lot of men and women, Violet had none but her... but in this film they show Violet like a... upperclass whore.
