This is an English multitrack fandub of the song "That's What Friends Are For" (The Vulture Song) from the classic Disney movie "The Jungle Book" (1967). It is an inter-regional collaboration by

to watch in 720p HD quality, which is highly recommended for this video.

The song was written by Disney staff songwriters Robert and Richard Sherman (the Sherman Brothers). The vultures' appearance is based on the Beatles and the song was originally planned to be a rock song, being sung by the Beatles, themselves. That idea was dropped, though and the song rewritten to this Barbershop style version. In the film it is performed by Lord Tim Hudson as vulture Dizzy (resembling George Harrison), James Patrick O'Malley as vulture Buziie (Ringo Starr), Chad Stuart as vulture Flaps (Paul McCartney), Digby Wolfe as vulture Ziggy (John Lennon) and Bruce Reitherman as the boy Mowgli. The talking voice of the tiger Shere Khan has been provided by George Sanders. There are contradicting information regarding the singing voice of Shere Khan, though. In some sources, it says the singing was done by Bill Lee. Others claim it was Thurl Ravenscroft.

Special thanks go to Marie Guégan, Henrik Heimbürger and Sebastian Limbach for giving us helpful feedback!

Furthermore, we want to thank Seth Weinstein

for transcribing the song.

Please also take a look at the videos Julien posted on his YouTube channel, as well as my other videos.

The lyrics (also included in the video) are:

"We're your friends.
We're your friends.
We're your friends to the bitter end,
The bitter end.

When you're alone,
When you're alone
Who comes around,
Who comes around
To pluck you up,
To pluck you up
When you are down,
When you are down?
And when you're outside lookin' in,
Who's there to open the door?
That's what friends are for.

Who's always eager to extend
A friendly claw?
That's what friends are for.
And when you're lost
In dire need,
Who's at your side
At lightning speed?
We're friends with every creature coming down the pike
In fact we've never met an animal we didn't like,
Didn't like.

So you can see
We're friends,
We're friends in need.
And friends in need
Are friends indeed.
We'll keep you safe in the jungle
Forevermore.
That's what friends are for."
