Print-on-demand publishing is an amazing way for authors to self-publish. Joanna Penn from http://www.TheCreativePenn.com explains. You upload your files to a provider and your book is only printed on order by a customer. This means no up front costs, no storage and no postage to manage. You can have a print book for sale with no holding costs - wow!

  • where is print on demand?

  • @salpkiss12 print on demand is a service provided by companies like Lulu.com, CreateSpace and Lightning Source. It is a method of publishing.

  • you don't really need a cover designer, lulu will guide you through the process using pictures you already have. But, how much does lulu charge you to list your book at amazon?

  • Hey John, That is a good point - Lulu has a much better cover design process than it used to. Lots of templates etc.

It cost me $40 to get distributed to Amazon by Lulu for my last book - the first time was free - they have promotions sometime, so an excellent service. Thanks, Joanna

  • This is a great video! Thanks for sharing :)

  • thanks, i just finished a childreens book and thats the way i'm going.

  • Thank you dear for this very valuable information!

  • wow, I did not know it was that cheap, I kept hearing $499.

That is a very cheap price for a listing at Amazon, but I have another question. Have you looked into making your book available as an ebook? The Kindle is becoming a popular device here in the states, even the amazon ebook reader is now a free download for iphones. That seems to be a wave of the future.
