@jackwontknow1 No. Those microphones are literally identical except for the grille on the sm58. The grille dampens some of the high frequencies, but take it off and you have a 57. Frequency response, pickup patter, everything is identical.

Broke my sm-57 when it took a hit while micing a snare drum. Only had it for a year or so.
Regardless of hard durable the outer components, the internals are still susceptible to shock from impact. I was a bit disappointed it didn't live up to it's reputation for me. Regardless, I love shure, I love the 57,58, the srh440s I have, and every shure product I've come into contact with. I'll buy shure time and time again, but don't expect these mics to be invincible, take care off all your equipment.
