  • I totally get the positioning for corner kicks, that is the way I was taught and what I currently teach. I don't understand how you cover the near post as the play develops and is heading down the sideline.

  • @habersmack

no problem. As the play develops and is heading down the sideline, you really don't need to adjust much from right ot left. You still want to make sure that you are center of the goal if the ball is out wide towards the touch line. You might, however, adjust your positioning further from the goal or closer to the goal depending on how far away they are. The only time you need to start moving towards the near post is if the play moves in towards the center of the field.

  • hi, i am losing 3 goals last match becoz of slipping hands, like the one robert green did against USA and H.Gomes against chelesa, is there any video to teach goalkeepers to prevent slipping hands, secondly, will u make a video about choosing goalkeeper gloves??thanks a lot

  • hey! nice videos...i am a goalkeeper from serbia i am 14 years old. I ware gloves size 8.is my hand small for my age? sorry for bad english :))

  • @digimonxDD

my friend, no worries. Your hands are of normal size for your age. When I was your age I wore a size 8 as well. As I got older I grew to a size 10.

  • @stlouisgoalkeeping Lol, I'm 18 and I'm still wearing size 8. So, there's nothing to worry about to digimonxDD

  • One other thing also, when diving for those hard shots, do you turn your lead leg towards where you are diving or keep your hips square to the ball? I've seen different techniques but it seems as though when you turn your toe on the lead foot towards where the ball is going and open your hips up, you get more power. Is that correct? Thank you again.

  • Question. The problems that I have with the crosses are that 1) The balls are driven across about 5 -9 yards off my goal line. There is almost no dip to them, but there is a lot of curve. I can't seem to get a good line to the ball. Is there any simple thing I am missing? 2) When a ball is driven across my 6, it seems to me that I can't quite reach it and I need to dive to get there. Is that natural? Also, on that, what would be the proper dive technique to get to those hard, driven crosses. Ty

  • I was taught to follow the ball on an arch from goal post to goal post to cover the near post. I know when the ball is on the end line there isn't much chance of getting it to the near post, but if I back up to the center of the goal to be in the starting position you describe, then at some point they can take advantage of my positioning.

  • Would you recommend weight training? I work out 4 days a week with wieghts. and 2-3 times a week i do goalkeeper training.

Do you think growing new muscle on my body will have a positive or negative effect on my goalkeeping technique, reflexes, and movement.

    thank you in advance
