The magnitude and timing of global sea level change remains one of the outstanding questions in global change research. Join researcher Shad O'Neel for a tour of coastal glaciers and learn why scientists believe these glaciers' unique behavior will make them one of the largest contributors to sea level rise in the next century. • I love seeing these old vids of "scientists" proving themselves completely wrong.

When you look at the maps of these retreating glaciers they are marked, retreating going back into the 1700's!

  • I have even been questioning what'll happen with the melting of the glacier. Will there be an overflow?

  • I would love to know if the ocean temperature is also rising at the floors, as well as at the surface. If so, which one is causitive? Does the floor temp. rise for the sake of the surface, or is the surface temp. rising because of the floor temp? The later scenario is quite intimidating, if one will only think it out.

  • Don't forget the now active volcano(s) under the 2 mile thick Antarctic ice sheet. Solar warming produces more CO2 as temps rise and ocean's salinity will change the conveyor belt of gulf stream perhaps.

  • As they line up to capitalize on the riches of the North pole's riches

others are worried about sea level rises.

1+1 = HAARP is melting the ice so they can get at the resources under them.

And they do not care who drowns in the process.

  • In just FIVE YEARS between 2004-2009 the thickness of arctic ice has DROPPED 42%.

This was discovered by NASA satellite measurements. Reported 7/7/09

Global Warming is changing our world NOW. CO2 is 35% above levels for 650,000 years. In just 30 years CO2 will be over 450ppm, enough to acidify oceans to the point of stopping the growth of many planktons and corals. They are at the base of the oceans' food chain.

    Duh??

  • "global warming is happening because of the change of the planet's magnetic fields"

Please provide peer reviewed evidence for this assertion.

  • global warming is happening because of the change of the planet's magnetic fields

it has happen before many times, and it will happen many times

This shouldn't mean that I agree with the dependence on oil that we have. Pollution is horrible and they should find new ways of using cleaner energies

Global warming must not be used as a way of making money like that Al Gore, it is a routine within earth's life, this time we happen to witness it from the first row

  • Geophysics1A , clever cloggs

  • Good presentation, although, no mention of the equalizing effect of isostasy on the sea floor (as mentioned for land masses) in measuring the rate of sea level rise. The isostatic effect should nearly have a 1/3 drop ratio of the sea floor, since the added water is only about 1/3 the mass of displaced sea floor rock, which is ultimately displaced out under the land masses and decreases the sea level rise by 1/3 (~33%) of the expected measurement. Is sea floor isostasy a factor in your data?
