Customers ask what kind of quality they should expect when using a single link DVI cable to hook up to an HDTV. I decided to try it out for myself to get a real world answer on the difference. I was unable to tell a difference between an HDMI to DVI cable and a standard HDMI cable. Hooking my laptop up to my TV I was still able to watch movies in 1080p.

  • Thanks for the comments, my laptop has HDMI and VGA out, I've never even tried using the VGA before. As far as the noise, I couldn't tell you much about the different noises because my laptop has a loose fan that makes it deafening regardless of what its doing.

  • Since DVI and HDMI are identical electrically and the audio on HDMI is interleaved into the video VBI, DVI is perfectly capable of carrying audio, it just usually doesn't.

  • thtat tv sucks

  • hey i have the same T.V. its a great one!

  • @Dragonathan 21 as in "i love this movie, "21" ftw

  • @crater721 what is the name of the movie?

  • i have a desktop pc that has a dvi output and my 46" lcd hdtv has about 3 hdmi outputs (1 of them used for my ps3). is the hdmi to dvi cable the right cable to use for my hdtv and desktop pc in order to properly display the highest screen resolution my desktop pc can use (1920x1080 aka 1080p)? i want to go to compusa tomorrow to see if they this cable.
