Well, thanks to this guy (jox8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFlx3frXNy8) I managed to revive my little computer that has died due to poor design thanks to Nvida and HP.

Details:

1) I took out everything (including the harddrive since you have to take it out anyways to remove the keyboard) and left the ram inside (since I got lazy, but probably should not do that.)

2) Turn on the computer - You will have a black screen but all the lights are functioning. If your lights aren't functioning there's something else wrong and this procedure won't fix it. Stop here.

2) Blow dry on high for t=(less than)60 seconds and no more.

3) Use your fingers to see how hot the chip is. If it isn't hot to touch then your hairdryer isn't hot enough. Push down firmly for a bit.

4) Turn off your laptop

5) Turn it back on, if it doesn't turn on repeat the procedure but DO NOT do this more than twice or three times. The constant heating / cooling will ruin the silicon main board / other components.

6) Enjoy. :)

  • Is there any reason why your computer is running when you did this??

  • @pnnorton No reason. Just voodoo.

  • This is not a joke. My TX2 went dead and each time I tried to reboot, I got a black screen and blinking caps lock and num lock leds... A big number of people complain about this defect on different forums. I saw this video and I gave it a try and...

    It worked fine!!!

So my advice : give it a try before sending it to the dump...

By the way, TX2 is very easy to disassemble. However, you must be very carefull withe the mouse and keybord connectors they are excessively fragile.

  • Why not just put it in the oven?

  • i have same problem. just cover your laptop with blanket or towel and wait until laptop got heat up.

    Thanks you very much.

  • How does heating the motherboard chipset repair the GPU problem? Is this sarcasm? Did it go over my head?

  • Lol wtf are you nuts? This will damage the mb even more then how it was...

  • Ha Ha ha sooo funny !!!

  • Perfect way to blow away smd's from your mb.

  • do you need to keep heating it up everytime you need to turn it on?
